Answer:
If I could give advice to one of the characters in the novel, I would give it to Charlotte Doyle. In chapter one, Charlotte should not have gotten on the ship. The things in the prologue, “Not every thirteen-year-old girl is accused of murder, brought to trial, and found guilty.”, would not have happened. I would have told her to listen to Zachariah and at least think about it because he might be right. You should not judge someone by their appearance. When she saw Captain Jaggery for the first time, she thought he was a gentleman because of his clothes. When Mr. Barlow was about to leave her where her trunk was stored, I would have told her to tell him to not leave her there by herself. I would never want to be left in a dark place that I did not know. I would give her the same advice Zachariah and Captain Jaggery gave her about the dirk. She should keep the dirk. She may need it in the future.
Hope this helps!
