Using that information we have to find that value of "a".

Since it is a right angle triangle hence apply Pythagorean formula:


20^2=12^2+a^2


400=144+a^2


400-144=144+a^2-144


256=a^2

Take square root of both sides


16=a

Hence final answer is a=16
