Kiki buys 3 bus tickets for her and her friends. They were $3.24 each. The bus takes them to the movie theater, in which they will watch the new Spiderman movie. The tickets cost $10.36 each, and she buys one for her and one for each of her friends. They also get 1 popcorn box for $7.34 and a soda for each of her friends (they cost $5.27 each). She had $50 for the day.

Did she go over her budget of $50? If so, by how much? Would she have gone over her budget if she only took 1 other friend instead of 2? Please explain your work in complete sentences.

Answer

Yes, Kiki went over her $50 budget by $13.92

No, Kiki would not have gone over budget if she had only brought 1 friend.

Explanation

3.24x3=9.72 total $ spent on bus tickets

10.36x3=31.05 total $ spent on movie tickets

5.27x3=15.81 15.81+7.34=23.15 total $ spent on popcorn and drinks

9.72+31.05+23.15=63.92 total $ spent

63.92-50=13.92 amount she went over her budget

If Kiki only brought 1 friend

3.24x2=6.48 total $ spend on bus tickets

10.36x2=20.72 total $ spent on movie tickets

5.72x2=11.44 11.44+7.34=18.78 total $ spent on popcorn and drinks

6.48+20.72+18.78=45.98 total $ spent

hope this helps!

have a great day :)

Answer:

Yes, she went ober her budget of $50 by $13.95.

If Kiki would have only took one friend she would have stayed under her budget. If Kiki would have took only one friend the total cost would have been $45.08, where as when she took two friends the total cost was $63.95.
