The United States of America in spite of providing munitions and food to the allied side stayed neutral and out of the war. However, it was slowly drawn into the war by factors such as the German Submarine aggressions, which were basically attacks to merchant ships. President Woodrow Wilson threaten them to take actions, but Germany made promises of leaving the ships alone. Nevertheless, after Germany established a policy of unrestricted submarine warfare, the United States broke relations with Germany. On the other hand, another factor that influenced the decision to enter the war was the Zimmerman Telegram, in which Arthur Zimmerman, German Foreign Minister, asked Mexican ambassador to support them in war, and in exchange he promised to help Mexico reclaim U.S land. That is why and following these acts, on April 2nd, 1917, President Woodrow Wilson asked Congress to declare war against Germany.
