If the question asks you to identify the person who might have said those words, the answer is C) A Native American person. This person has been told probably by a Christian minister, perhaps a Jesuit priest or missionary (since the Jesuits were characteristically dressed in black robes) that he/she needs to renounce to his/her former faith and spiritual and ritual traditions and practices and to embrace Christianity, or he/she will be punished. Native Americans were indeed systematically evangelized by Christians priests and missionaries, and their former religions and practices were outlawed, although many of them accepted the new religion voluntarily, some out of pragmatism (they were seeking protection), and were eventually able to adapt it to their own system of beliefs.
