How do I find unit price

You divide the cost by the amount of items. So say 3.55 is my cost and 12 is the amount of items I bought. My expression would be 3.55/12. That would be equal to about 0.3 units of whatever currency.

Unit price means the cost per unit.

For example, I'll make up a word problem.

If 4 tacos cost $3.80, find the unit price. Round to he nearest cent if necessary.

In this case, the unit price is the cost per taco. If we know that it costs $3.80 for 4 tacos, to find the cost for one taco we need to divide 4 into 3.80.


\sqrt[4]{3.80} = 0.95

For this example, 1 taco costs 95 cents.
