Tina uses 4 5/12 yards of wire for her scince project. Kelvin uses 1 2/3 yards of wire fir his project. How many yards of wire do thry use altogether

Explanation:

5/12 + 2/3, to make this easier lets start by finding the same denominator. Multiply 2/3 by 4 ex.( 2 x 4 ) and that would

( 3 x 4 )

equal 8/12. Now we can add both fractions together 5/12 + 8/12 = 13/12. Since 13/12 is an improper fraction we need to divide 12 ÷ 13 = 1 1/12. Add the whole numbers together 4 + 1 = 5 plus 1 = 6 (the extra whole number we got by dividing 12 by 13). So now that leaves us with 6 1/12.


The answer is 6 1/12.
