A black hole is an object with such high density that its gravity is so strong that nothing, not even light (electromagnetic radiation) can escape as is why it appears black as no light comes back. They are formed usually when a very large star collapses in on itself.

When a star is dying, this may take place. People cannot see black holes because no light can escape from them. They are undetectable.
