To calculate this you just have to calculate a rule of three with both gas tanks, so if the dad´s car holds 12 gallons of gas, and the mom´s car holds 50% more that means 150% of in the rule of three:


(12)/(100)= (x)/(150)\\ x=(12*150)/(100) \\x=(1800)/(100)\\ x=18

So the total amount of gallons that the mom´s car tank can hold is 18 gallons.
