Explain what it means for the Supreme Court to have original and exclusive jurisdiction over certain cases.

Exclusive jurisdiction means that the Supreme Court has the power to adjudicate a case to the exclusion of the other courts.

The opposite would be non-exclusive or concurrent jurisdiction. In this situation, more than one court can take jurisdiction over a case.
