The formula to convert °C to °F is:

°F = 32 + °C x 9 ÷ 5

The temperature of the water in a sports centre's swimming pool is 27° C.
What is the temperature of the pool in °F?

Answer:

80.6

Explanation:

F = 9/5 C + 32

F = (9/5)*27 + 32 Substitute 27 into the equation

F = 243 / 5 + 32 Multiply 9 and 27 together

F = 48.6 + 32 Divide by 5

F = 80.6 Add on 32

A very quick way to do this is to double your centigrade temperature and and 30 which you should be able to do in your head.

2*27 = 54 Add 30

54 + 30 = 84

This quick way will tell you if you get near the right answer.
