Ans.

Signal transduction is defined as a process that involves transfer of a signal through or across a cell in an organism to generate a proper response for a stimulus. Amplification of signal transduction involves increase in rate of signal transduction.

If a signal tranduction pathway shows several amplification steps, a single ligand will lead to cause response in several places of a cell and, 'it will allows a rapid or quick response by the organism to the stimulus.'
