Info -

  • 6 sketchbooks
  • x = original price
  • $3 dollars off original price for every sketchbook
  • total price of the 6 sketchbooks was $18

So, this is the equation made to solve the problem.

6(x-3) = 18

If you solve this, then you use the basic equation and integer rules and all that stuff.

6x-18=18 Distributive property to get rid of parenthesis

+18 +18 Add 18 on both sides to get rid of the extra stuff

Then, you divide by 36:

6x=36

(6x)/(6) = (36)/(6)

x = $6

Good job! You are correct :D

Answer:

6x- 18

Explanation:

let the price of each sketch book be X dollars each

thus for 6 of them the total price was 6x. This was price before the tax

price after the tax = X - 3

total price after the tax = 6x- 18
