Answer:

yes

Explanation:

given the 2 equations

y = 2x - 1

5x - 4y = 1

To determine if (1, 1 ) is a solution

Substitute x = 1, y = 1 into the left side of both equations and if equal to the value on the right side then it is a solution

y = 2x - 1

left side = 1 and right side = (2 × 1) - 1 = 2 - 1 = 1 ← both sides equal 1

5x - 4y = (5 × 1) - (4 × 1) = 5 - 4 = 1 = right side ← both sides equal 1

Hence (1, 1 ) is a solution to the system
