Explanation: first of all i’m literally 99.9% sure this is correct because i have taken this test before and hat is the correct answer. second, a simile is a type of figurative language that uses like or as to compare. figurative language helps paint a picture and add detail. the person is comparing oyster and his boy to a jay-bird using as, which makes it a simile rather than a metaphor. a metaphor would more be something like the ground is charcoal because you are comparing the ground to the color charcoal without using like or as. hope this helps :)
