Answer;

CaCO₃ is the precipitate

Explanation;

  • In the reaction;

CaCl₂ (aq) + K₂CO₃(aq) → CaCO₃(s) +2KCl (aq)

Calcium carbonate is the precipitate as it is insoluble in water.

  • The above reaction is an example of a precipitation reaction also known as double decomposition reaction, in which two soluble salts are reacted to form a soluble salt and another insoluble salt which is the precipitate.
  • During precipitation the salts exchange their ions resulting to formation of a precipitate, in our case calcium carbonate is our precipitate since it is insoluble in water.
