In adolescents the snacking trend is on the rise. Any normal child consumes up to three snacks a day. The snacks that are on increase in consumption are mostly candies and other salty snacks. The major source is still largely based on the consumption of sweetened beverages and other desserts. On average approximately 23% to 39% of daily food energy in adolescents comes from snacks. These patterns can play a major role in childhood obesity.
