1) Disputed between Congress and the president (Johnson and his 10% plan, and impeachment)
2) The passing of Black Codes, Jim Crow Laws, Literacy tests, poll tax, and grandfather clauses- all limiting rights of African Americans
3) Less of an enthusiasm placed on Reconstruction with the passing of Henry Clay and Webster
4) The establishment of sharecropping and tenant farming very similar to slavery
