Guys help me please!

Can someone tell me how to find ratios and what they are please!? Don't use the web!

Suppose you are standing on a street corner. Suppose that you are counting cars. You notice that there are only black ones and white ones. For every 3 black cars there are 4 white ones. Beginning ratios always look something like this.

Black to white = 3 to 4

This is more commonly written in two ways

  • Black to White = 3/4
  • Black:White:: 3:4

So what do you notice? You should see that a ratio is a fraction.

All ratios are fractions.

Now suppose you are still on the street counting cars again. Suppose you notice that after counting 70 cars, you get

  • Black to White = 30:40
  • Is that still 3/4?
  • The answer is yes. You can multiply 3/4 by the same number on the top as you did on the bottom.
