Drawing a line from A to the base creates a right triangle

with legs 8 and (25 - 10 ) = 15

Using Pythagoras' identity in the right triangle.

The square on the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares on the other 2 sides, that is

AB² = 15² + 8² = 225 + 64 = 289 ( take the square root of both sides )

√(289) = 17 m

Using Pythagoras' identity i right triangle ABC

AC² = AB² + BC² = 17² + 9² = 289 + 81 = 370 ( take square root of both sides )

√(370) ≈ 19.2 m ( to 1 dec. place )
