Step 1

Assign a letter to the cost of each product

Cost of hamburger = x
Cost of hotdog = y

Step 2

Write a formula identifying how much of each product you are purchasing, and the final cost.

2x + 3y = 19.05

Step 3

Substitute the cost of a hamburger into X

2 × (5.25) + 3y = 19. 05

Step 4

Rearrange for y (cost of hotdog)

10.5 + 3y = 19. 05
3y = 19.05 - 10.5
3y = 8.55
y = 8.55 / 3
y = 2.85

So the cost for 1 hotdog is $2.85

I hope this helped, If you have any questions, feel free to ask
