Let the smallest number = x

The 2nd even number would be x +2

4 times the first = 4x

3 times the second = 3(x+2)

Set them to equal each other and solve:

4x = 3(x+2)

Simplify:

4x = 3x +6

Subtract 3x from each side:

x =6

The smallest number is 6

The second number is 6+2 = 8

The two numbers are 6 and 8
