I need help on how to solve ( x2-5x-12) ÷ (x+3)

Explanation:

Consider the numerator

x(x + 3) - 3x - 5x - 12

= x(x + 3) - 8(x + 3) + 24 - 12

= x(x + 3) - 8(x + 3) + 12

quotient = x - 8 and remainder = 12


(x^2-5x-12)/(x+3) = x - 8 +
(12)/(x+3)
