In response to sustained stress, the body goes through several stages that together constitute the general adaptation syndrome (GAS), a concept proposed by researcher Hans Selye. This GAS consists of all the following stages EXCEPT (alarm, resistence, exhaustion, death)

The correct answer is Death

The Gas Syndrome consists of alarm, resistance and exhaustion.

The first stage is known as the Alarm Stage, which is somewhat equivalent to the Fight or Flight stage of traditional psychology.

The second stage is Resistance, in which the individual attempts to cope with the stress related to the first stage.

The third stage is Exhaustion in which the individual, exhausted by environmental stressors -or stressors of any kind,- can't cope with them any longer and nears the point of exhaustion which then has an effect on immunological defense systems
