Frans de Waal is a Dutch ethologist. He focused his study on primates and their social behavior, including the appearance cooperation, preference for fairness, conflict resolution, and food sharing. These characteristics are known as prosocial behavior. He considered the chimpanzee to be the best fit for his research and executed a 6-year project in a colony of chimpanzees at the Arnhem Zoo, in the Netherlands. as a result of this study, he published several papers and a book called Chimpanzee Politics, in 1982.
