What is an ethical concern that arises due to bioprospecting?

A. Bioprospecting isn't helpful in obtaining useful chemicals.

B. Bioprospecting of the chemicals is often done with little concern for the environment or the native peoples in the area.

C. The bioprospecting of new drugs requires lengthy and expensive testing, so companies do not always do them.

D. The bioprospecting of new pharmaceuticals always requires that the animals from which they are obtained be killed.

I was thinking the answer was B but I want a second opinion on this. Cannot afford to fail.

Thank you!

  • Bio-prospecting:

" The process of obtaining the optimum level of drug or medicines from the living beings, i.e the plants and animals."

  • Option-(B) is the best choice to choose from, as it is the right one.

But, however you require another option to be included, then we can have

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Option- (D): is then taken under consideration.
  • The Mechanism:

As those companies which are more developed and has an abundance of resources, along with convenience can afford the process of bio-prospecting, as in many many regions of Africa the for the sake of witchcraft and such unethical activities the living beings were killed and harmed, which is now has completely restrictions and many sanctions are imposed on the industries activities by the government.
