you start with 60 and 15 of them like green.

you need to put 15 over 60 because that is how many people that like green.

15/60.... then you need to simplify

which would be 1/4

There is a total number of 60 students and 15 of them choose green to be their favorite color. What is the percent of people that chose green to be their favorite color.

The fraction
(15)/(60) represents the 15 students that chose green to be their favorite color out of all the students.

To find what percent of students that chose green to be their favorite color, we need to change
(15)/(60) into a percent.

We are able to reduce
(15)/(60) by dividing both the numerator and denominator by the Greatest Common Factor of 15 and 60 using 15.

15 ÷ 15 = 1

60 ÷ 15 = 4

Our reduced fraction is
(1)/(4)

1 ÷ 4 = 0.25

0.25 × 100 = 25%

Therefore, 25% of the students chose green as their favorite color.
