y = 5x - 5

Explanation:

Add 5x to the right.

y - 5x + 5x = 5x + 10

y = 5x + 10

Since you want a parallel line, the slope is the same for the new line

y = 5x + b

Now use the given point for the line (3,10)

  • y = 10
  • x = 3

10 = 3*5 + b

10 = 15 + b Subtract 15 from both sides.

10 - 15 = 15 - 15 + b

b = -5

New line y = 5x - 5
