Now we solve for x.

Combine like terms:

x + x + 3x = 5x

-8 + 13 = 5

5x + 5 = 180

Subtract 5 from both sides:

5x = 175

Divide both sides by 5:

x = 35

Now we must plug in 35 for x in the equation for angle A:

3(35) + 13 = 118

Another way we could've done this is plug in x for angle c and angle b and just subtract those values from 180 to get 118.
