A sample of gas has an intial volume of 22.8 L at a pressure of 1.65 atm. If the sample is compressed to a volume of 10.7 L, what is its pressure? (Assume constant temperature.)

The pressure of the gas is 3.52 atm

calculation

This is calculated using the Boyle's law formula

that is P1V1= P2V2 where;

P1 = 1.65 atm

V1 =22.8 L

P2 =? atm

V2 = 10.7 L

make P2 the subject of the formula by dividing both side by V2

P2 = P1V1 / V2

P2 = (1.65 atm x 22.8 l) / 10.7 L = 3.52 atm
