If you put tungsten metal under high pressure, predict what would happen to the distance between w atoms.

Answer: The distance between Tungsten atoms will decrease.

Explanation: Tungsten element is the 74th element of the periodic table.

We are asked the effect on the distance of the W atoms when we increase the pressure. As we know, that by increasing the pressure, the molecules will come closer to each other and hence, the distance between the W-atoms will decrease.

As Tungsten is a metal, so by applying pressure on it, it will get converted into thin sheets as they are malleable in nature.
