The Battle of Trenton took place in the morning on December 26, 1776, in Trenton, New Jersey, during the American Revolutionary War. General George Washington and his soldiers carried out a sudden attack on the Hessian army. Some factors led to Washington's success in Trenton. Washington realized that the Hessians would celebrate Christmas Day; as a consequence, the Hessian soldiers would not be prepared for battle. So he ordered a surprise attack on December 26 by surrounding the Hessians. As a result, Washington defeated the Hessians before withdrawing while many of them surrendered and were captured.
