Write an inequality to represent the real-world problem.
Then explain how you created the inequality.

You have cavities and you are looking for a cheaper dentist. Dentist A costs $50 for the visit and $20 per cavity. Dentist B costs $70 for the visit and $5 per cavity. When would dentist B be cheaper than dentist A?

Answer:20x+50= 5x+70

Explanation:

x = number of cavities

use the subtraction property of equality and solve for x

20x+50 = 5x+70

-5x -50 -5x - 50

15x = 20

Then you divide 20 by 15

15x = 20

----- -----

15 15

x= 4/3
