So to solve for x, whatever you do to one side, do the opposite on the other side :)

4x+2 =14
On the left you add 2, so subtract 2 from 14 to get 12

4x =12
Now you divide by 4 on both sides

x=3
finally you get x=3 :)

The answer is 3.

Step-by-step explanation

4x + 2 = 14

Following Addition Property of Equality, deduct 2 on both sides.

4x = 12

Then, divide both sides by 4.

x = 3
