Scientific method is an excellent approach that is used to solve any problem when a scientist comes across it. It lies at the core of many scientific disciplines like biology, chemistry and geology.

There are different steps that must be followed in a sequence if we have to solve a problem through proper scientific method. These steps are:

Make an observation:

It is the first step when you observe the problem by using your five senses. For example: In morning we wake up and try to make a toaster, but see that toaster is not working.

Ask a question:

The second step is asking yourself relevant questions about the observation, that can help in solving the problem in a reasonable way. Like we can ask ourselves a question when we observe toaster example, why we are not able to use this toaster, is it not working?

Construct a hypothesis:

Hypothesis is a reasonable statement that gives a probable answer to our question, but remember this is just a statement we have not tested it yet. So if toaster is not working we can say after observing electricity that electric current is broken.

Make a prediction based on the hypothesis:

The next step is the process of making prediction or checking new options. Like if we use another socket toaster might work.

Test the hypothesis:

At this step we proceed with plugging the wire in another socket and find that, wow! Its working fine now.

Communicate the result:

So if the result of a hypothesis after testing, gives you answer of problem. It means that your results are excellent and supported by test results. You can communicate the results with other people.

Note: In this example results are not communicable because its a simple example, but if we have solved a bigger problem like discovered a new virus, It is important to communicate our results through making a theory, law and writing articles and publishing it for world.
