first you multiply both sides of the inequality by 3 to get rid of the fraction. You then subtract 1 from both sides. Finally, you divide both sides by 2 to get k is greater than 1.

2k + (1)/(3) > 1 Subtract
(1)/(3) on both sides

2k > 1-(1)/(3) Make the denominators the same

2k>(3)/(3) -(1)/(3)

2k>(2)/(3) Divide 2 on both sides

k>(2)/(3(2))

k>(1)/(3)
