Three Ways how to solve- by graphing or using process of elimiation or process of :substitution
Line 1: 3x -y =6
Line 2: 4x +4y = -8
Substitution Method:
y = 3x - 6 (make line 1 equal to x)
then plug it as y into line 2 formula
4x + 4(3x - 6) = -8
Now solve
4x + 12x -24 = -8
16x = 16
x = 1
Elimination Method:
3x -y =6 (multiply the top by 4 to get rid of y )
4x +4y = -8
So, it changes to ...
12x - 4y = 24
4x +4y = -8
then add
16x = 16
x = 1
Graphing:
Plot both equations, then find the point where they intercept and find the x value and that should be your answer
The graph is attached.
x = 1
