13. You can plug in each number (-42, 48, 42, and 54) for "w" in the inequality. This is because you want to know if "w" equals -42, 48, 42, and 54.

12 + 10(-42) ≥ 8((-42) + 12)

12 - 420 ≥ 8(30)

-408 ≥ 240

A is not a solution because -420 is not greater than or equal to 240.

12 + 10(48) ≥ 8(48 + 12)

12 + 480 ≥ 8(60)

492 ≥ 480

B is a solution because 492 is greater than 480.

12 + 10(42) ≥ 8(42 + 12)

12 + 420 ≥ 8(54)

432 ≥ 432

C is a solution because 432 is equal to 432

12 + 10(54) ≥ 8(54 + 12)

12 + 540 ≥ 8(66)

552 ≥ 528

D is a solution because 552 is greater than 528

Your solutions are B, C, D

14. all real numbers are greater than -4 and less than 4

-4 < x < 4

The first line graph is your answer. This is because the phrase does not say "or equal to", so you don't need the line underneath. When the sign is ≤ or ≥ ("less/greater than or equal to"), the dot is filled in. When the sign is < or >, the dot is not filled in/open circle.

15. all real numbers that are less than -4 or greater than 12

y < -4 or y > 12

[y is less than -4, or y is greater than 12]

The first line graph is your answer
