A Formula is Always Neutral

Given : Formula of Compound is XY₂

⇒ The Compound Contains Three X Ions and Two Y Ions

Given : The Charge on Each Y Ion is -3

⇒ The Charge on Two Y Ions = -3 × 2 = -6

As the Formula of Compound is Neutral, The Charge of 3 X Ions should be Equal to +6

⇒ 3X = +6

⇒ X = +2

⇒ The Charge on Each X Ion is +2

B is the Answer
