The dog is 20 inches tall now.

Explanation:

Given that:

Height of dog when it was a puppy =
5(1)/(2) inches

Height of dos now =
14(1)/(2) than previous height

It means that we will add this height in the height of dog when it was a puppy.

Height of dog now =
5(1)/(2)+14(1)/(2)

Height of dog =
(11)/(2)+(29)/(2)=(11+29)/(2)=(40)/(2)

Height of dog = 20 inches

Hence,

The dog is 20 inches tall now.
