1. 8p-3=13

+3

8p=16 /8

p=2

2. 8j -5 +j=67

== 9j=72 /9

j=8

3. 3(2x-5)=4x+33 <--- =expand ()

6x-15=4x+33 ---> 2x=48

x=24

4. c=b-bx

get just x's on one side

c-b=bx

divide by b---> (c-b)/b=x

Answer:

1. p = 2

2. j = 8

3. x = 24

Explanation:

In order to solve any of these, simply follow the order of operations of solving. Below is each example explained for you.

1.

8p - 3 = 13 ----> Add 3 to both sides

8p = 16 ----> Divide both sides by 8.

p = 2

2.

8j - 5 + j = 67 ----> Combine like terms

9j - 5 = 67 ----> Add 5 to both sides

9j = 72 ----> Divide both sides by 9

j = 8

3.

3(2x - 5) = 4x + 33 ----> Distribute the 3

6x - 15 = 4x + 33 -----> Subtract 4x from both sides

2x - 15 = 33 ----> Add 15 to both sides

2x = 48 -----> Divide both sides by 2

x = 24
