y = x + 1

the equation of a line in slope-intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y-intercept )

to calculate the slope use the gradient formula

m = (y₂ - y₁ ) / (x₂ - x₁ )

with (x₁, y₁ ) = (- 1, 0 ) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (0, 1 )

m =
(1-0)/(0+1) = 1

the y-intercept is (0, 1 ) ⇒ c = 1

y = x + 1 → is the equation of the line
