Assignment

You have been asked to help a third grader named Harper with her math homework. Harper tells you that she has never been good at math. She tells you that some people are born with great math minds, and her mind is just bad at math.

Write Harper a letter. In your letter, teach Harper about the Fixed and Growth Mindsets. Help Harper understand how a Growth Mindset can help her get better at math. If you like, you can draw a picture for Harper showing her how her brain can grow and get smarter.

Your letter should be at least five complete sentences.

Answer:

Dear Harper,

Since you think that you're bad at math and can't change that, you haven't had the chance to get better. Remember, everything is about the mindset, if you think you can, than you'll be able to. If you think you can't, that's a fixed mindset and you really won't be able to. But if you go about things with a Growth mindset, thats not accurate anymore. With a growth mindset, you can become the best person in your entire class at math. Believe you can, and you will succeed.

Keep up your hard work!

Sincerely,
