the food begins in the mouth where it is crushed by the teeth and made soft by the saliva and it is swallowed and travels down the oesophagus by peristalsis and then it enters the stomach where it crushed and churned by the stomach walls and stomach acid and bile. after this, the food enters the small intestine where the minerals and nutrients are absorbed by the villi into the blood by diffusion. after this process is complete it travels to the large intestine where water is drawn out of the waste making it dryer. at the end of the large intestine, it enters the anus and is excreted as faeces.
