These two points equal the same because they are both corresponding angles; this means you can use simultaneous equations to solve this. Simply make the two

Because the both angles are the same, you can say they are both equal:

3x - 14 = 4(x - 9)

Which after expanding the brackets simplifies to:

3x - 14 = 4x - 36

Now, rearrrange the equation so all x's are on one side and all the numbers are on the other. Don't forget to switch the sign when moving over numbers and letters:

3x - 4x = -36 + 14

Which then simplifies to:

-x = -22

Or x = 22
