Here is your equation:


6 = m - (7)/(8)

You're looking for m. To find m, you have to remove everything on the same side of it. On that side, you have:


m-(7)/(8)

You have
-(7)/(8). To remove it, you have to do the opposite of it, which is
+(7)/(8). To leave m alone, add
(7)/(8) to both sides.


6 = m-(7)/(8) \\ \\ 6 + (7)/(8) = m-(7)/(8) + (7)/(8) \\ \\ 6 (7)/(8) = m

You have your answer, which is
\bf 6 (7)/(8)
