You want to order carpet for an area in your house. The room measures 12 feet by 10 feet. Remember, Area = Length × Width.

The carpet is sold in square yards. How many square yards of carpet will you need? If your answer has a decimal, round up to the next whole number.

Answer: We will need 120 square yards of carpet.

Explanation:

Given : The room measures 12 feet by 10 feet.

i.e. length = 12 feet

and width= 10 feet

Also, the area of a rectangle is given by :-

\text{Area}=\text{Length}*\text{Width}

Now, the area of the rectangular carpet will be :-

\text{Area}=12*10\\\\\Rightarrow\text{Area}=120\text{ feet}^2

Hence, we will need 120 square yards of carpet.
