Is this correct?

(19)^2 + (b)^2 = (25)^2

361 + b^2 = 722

b^2 = 722 – 625

b = 97

= x inches

The x inches thing is because I'm still a bit confused on that part, but is the rest correct? And can anyone help me with the x inches part?

Starting with your (19)^2 + (b)^2 = (25)^2:

361 + b^2 = 625 (not 722)

Then b^2 = 625 - 361 = 264.

Taking the square root of both sides, we get b = plus or minus √264, or approx. 16.25.

Please, include the diagram or a detailed verbal description of the problem at hand, when you post it.
