Slope intercept form:

y = mx + b

"m" is the slope, "b" is the y-intercept (when x = 0)

You know that the slope =
(-5)/(4), so you can plug it in:

y = mx + b

y = (-5)/(4)x+b

To find "b", you plug in the point (4, -7) into the equation.

y = (-5)/(4)x+b

-7=(-5)/(4)(4)+ b

-7 = -5 + b Add 5 on both sides

-2 = b

Your equation is:

y = (-5)/(4)x - 2
