y =
(ab)/(2)

given
(y+y)/(a) = b, that is

(2y)/(a) = b ( multiply both sides by a )

2y = ab ( divide both sides by 2 )

y =
(ab)/(2)

(y+y)/(a) = b Multiple "a" on both sides

(y + y)/(a) (a) = b(a)

y + y = ab

2y = ab Divide 2 on both sides

(2y)/(2) =(ab)/(2)

y = (ab)/(2)
